The other day a girl walked up to a friend of mine and complimented on his hair style.

“Thanks!” he said, “I cut it myself.”

I replied to my friend, “My mom cuts her own hair too!” Only to realize she doesn’t have any hair anymore.

My mother’s beautiful, black hair. Streaked with age and stress, but beautiful nonetheless. 

She had asked her friend to shave the rest of it off, once the effects of the treatments had taken hold. Running her fingers through it only to have strands and chunks fall to the floor. 

My fragile mother. I love her. I will giver her all my hair any day.

In the shadows of the forest, among the beech trees,

Something moves, rustles and whispers.

Flames flicker, their glow dances

around colorful figures, leaves and rocks.

It’s the roaming Gypsy band,

with flashing eyes and waving hair—

Weaned on the Niles holy waters,

and browned by Spains scorching sun…

You get irritated by that stray hair on the back of your arm. While trying to snatch it, your cell phone slips from your grasp and you yell, realizing everyone in line is wondering why you grabbed your arm and screamed “NO!”
